Texas Conservation Corps provided training for youth age 17 to 28 in environmental management and safety through work experience in parks, nature trails, wildlife habitats, and disaster relief with on-site academic services and a variety of support services available. Support services included case management and counseling, re-entry services for justice-involved youth, transportation and child-care assistance, and stipends for program participation. 

The program was evaluated in Travis County, TX.

Thirteen JOBSTART sites provided youth with instruction in basic academic skills, occupational skills training, supportive services, and job search assistance. Basic academic skills instruction was individualized and commonly focused on developing skills needed to pass a GED examination. Occupational skills training was classroom based. Youth could choose from various occupational skills courses that generally prepared participants for jobs requiring moderate or higher skills.

Cognitive Behavioral Day Treatment Plus Abstinence-Contingent Housing, Vocational Training, and Work provided abstinence-contingent housing, paid employment training, and daily cognitive behavioral treatment to individuals experiencing homelessness and cocaine dependency in Birmingham, AL. The program transported participants from program-provided housing to job training, job interviews, and work sites.
